Malika

Grozny, Chechen Republic

Malika (born in 1973) fled the war in Chechnya in 2003 together with her husband. In her home country, she worked as a midwife. In Belgium, she stayed at home to care for her five children; now that they need less support, she’s ready to return to work. Sewing is her hobby—she has been making her own clothes for years and doing alterations for family and friends. She would love to turn it into her profession, because all her worries disappear when she sits behind a sewing machine.
